Autumn cometh

image

This is the second lace loop scarf I have made using Tante Ehm’s Milanese lace pattern. I love it, though in this yarn the edges curl in rather easily. The other scarf is for my sister, just in time for the weather to turn. I’m not sure where this one will go. Here are some more pics though :)

A great pattern, easy to follow, and the Bendigo Serenity yarn with its bamboo sheen is quite lovely.

Work in progress

A cowl in blue, using the Milanese lace pattern from ravelry. An easy pattern to follow, one I’m looking forward to see open up when I block the finished product.

Keeping up

One of two leggings I’ve made lately. Very fortunate to have two legs, even if it doubles the knit time ;) Have many more projects on the boil I must remember to share. Like these, though it’s still too hot to wear them, even if they are part bamboo.

A new year

It has been a long time between posts, and so it is time for change. In the meantime, here are a couple of things I completed today. A cotton flower cloth, and newborn baby mitts!

Sunshine on my hand

It is settling into a rather chill winter here in Melbourne, so any sunshine has us unfurling like flowers to catch each ray. Even in the sun though, I can still feel the cold in my bones, so fingerless gloves keep me moving. I’ve no idea what stitch I used, apart from the rib at the base and top. It kind of just happened as I went along. I really like it though, with the little crosses in between the wobbly stripes of stockinette. I also loved avoiding seams. Time to make another, if I can. :)

Hats ^_^

More personal knitting, though I have been busy with other projects too. These hats are currently blocking on dinner plqtes. The lighter one is made with yarn hand dyed by Wired for Fibre, and the darker is by Hawthorne Cottage, which I found at a market in Daylesford. The pattern is Eleanor by Melissa La’barre and is available on Ravelry.

Was hoping to make matching fingerless mitts, but alas, not enough yarn. :( Perhaps I may experiment with some lace cuffs? The loveliness of the hand dyed yarns inspires me to have a go myself. I have dyed a little with Jelly crystals, but perhaps I will invest in proper dyes, and a swift for winding. Oh, the possibilities! :D

Earrings for a friend

image

I made these today. The yarn is cotton silk. I think the earrings are copper plated brass. Not being a jewellery wearer, I can’t model them, but I like them. I hope my friend likes them too.

A week’s worth of hats

image

Some finishing touches to add, but proud of my efforts. After selling two hats and a set at Rose Street last week, I had to rebuild my stock of snuggly baby hats. Should be all set for the Makers Market in Abbotsford this Sunday. It’s been fun.

Gifting

This is a neckwarmer I made for my sister for her birthday, and now that she has it, I can show photos! It is the celtic cable neckwarmer pattern by Lindsay Henricks on Ravelry. The yarn is 12ply Rustic in Green Tweed by Bendigo Woollen Mills, from a recent adventure to the mill. I’m pretty pleased with it, and I hear she’s wearing it 24/7. She’s even asked for a ‘manly’ version for her boyfriend!
